Interested in how to become an advocate for prosimians and other endangered primates? Contact your local senator and let him/her know that protecting prosimians from the pet trade is important. and that you support the Captive Primate Safety Act. This legislation was introduced in May 2021, by U.S. Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), co-chair of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), along with Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), to protect primates and public safety. As stated by Fitzpatrick, “Our bipartisan and bicameral Captive Primate Safety Act would prohibit the unlicensed, private possession of apes, monkeys, and other primates, and put animal welfare and safety first.”
